Haltinger Winzer Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs 2019
Rarely do you come across Pinot Noir vinified as white wine, except in sparkling wine production like Champagne. Here it is a revelation that gives a nice creamy texture and the classic red berry notes, balanced by an appetizing freshness. Serve it to blindfolded friends and it will definitely tease them what this is. It is a hugely enjoyable wine, from Haltinger, a winery that was voted ‘Best Cellar in Baden 2014’. This is a region known for its red wine, especially Pinot Noir – Baden has the climate to fully ripen the red grapes, whereas much of Germany has been too cool. Treat yourself and your friends to a super good and well-made white wine on a par with Burgundy and serve the wine in a cool cellar. It is great for creamy white meat dishes, risotto or luxurious fish pie.
